Welcome to Tetrim Teas, first newsletter.

Thank you so much for your interest in our family tea business in Trimsaran.

As a not-for-profit company, we hope to engage our customers and supporters throughout our journey. So, please let us know if there is anything you want to find out more about.

A quick overview of how we got to October 2023:

We registered Tetrim Teas in January 2021, and were fortunate to receive early Decarbonisation funding from the Welsh Government to research ingredients and select locally sourced plants with health benefits (to keep our ‘food miles’ low and to keep profit in the pockets of local growers). Thanks to Aberystwyth University, AberInnovation and Bic Innovation for doing all the clever work for us!

This is how we found out about the benefit of rhubarb root our below blog tells more about why we chose this amazing ingredient. It was through this work we also discovered Dartmoor Estate Tea. Again, you can read below why and how we came to partner with this innovative UK tea grower.

We were also lucky to have found another supportive local tea company in Carmarthen – Tea Traders (and we will have an open day in their shop on the
25th of October 2023 between 11-2pm – pop in to say hello if you’re in the area!).

After years of research, clinical trials, developing the business and the brand (thanks to Kutchibok), supported by many individuals and organisations (some of which are mentioned below); we finally started selling our first blend: Rhubarb Root Tea, at the end of August 2023.

Now we are up and running, we have also set up a local tea club called Tŷ Te Trimsaran (thanks to funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund). Pop along to Trimsaran Community Centre any Thursday (1-3pm) for some rhubarb tea and a chance to chat or practice your Welsh. And we have recently started selling at local markets and booked several Christmas Fairs.

We are also developing the next health blend which will be a Lion’s Mane Mushroom tea; which is linked to improved memory, depression, mental health and even dementia.

It’s great to finally be out and about, we love getting your feedback on the tea.
And we hope to see you somewhere soon.

Diolch yn fawr iawn!

Mari, Elis, Helen & Steffan (Team Tetrim Teas)

When we had the idea to develop a Welsh health tea, I drew on my experience of selling health and slimming teas in my health spa several years ago. We wanted to develop a tea that would help improve people's health and wellbeing. We were also motivated by wanting to support local farmers and growers. Read more>>

We are celebrating our partnership with Tea Traders in Carmarthen by having an open day later this month. Join us on October 25th between 11-2pm.

I wanted quality green tea, ideally from the UK, and after many conversations and research, I selected green tea from Dartmoor Estate Tea. The tea is high in polyphenols and anti-oxidants, and has a smooth taste and gentle aroma which compliments the rhubarb root and the other ingredients in the blend. Read more>>

To ensure the whole our product is ethical and sustainable, we researched packaging from the tea bags to the boxes, find out more about how we avoid plastics click here

You can read all about the health benefits and the clinical trials here - and how people  have found the rhubarb root tea can help with bloating and digestion, as well as the hidden benefits of lowering bad cholesterol.

Our next newsletter will have more information on our new Lion’s Mane Mushroom blend, but get in touch anytime if you want to know anymore.

We would like to thank Crish Davies in Kidwelly, Cywain, Rhun ap Iorwerth & Hooton’s on Anglesey, Insynch Digital, Trimsaran Community Centre, Robert Firth, Carmarthenshire Council, Cardiff Met, everyone who participated in the clinical trial, and so many more fabulous people.
