The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act defines Sustainable Development as: "The process of improving the economic, social, environmental and cultural well-being of Wales by taking action, in accordance with the sustainable development principle, aimed at achieving the well-being goals." This is the foundation on which Tetrim Teas is built. From here we will: 1.Develop the best product we can at every stage of our process. 2.Identify ethical and local supply chains. 3.Work with; and encourage our partners and suppliers to work with; those with barriers to employment. 4.Develop ethical, natural products that we genuinely believe in. 5.Have science and data behind everything we do. 6.Keep innovating across our product range, packaging, supply chain and business structure. 7.Aim to develop a zero-carbon whole business. 8.Contribute positively to overall well-being.

Our HOME

In 2026, Tetrim Teas moved into Canolfan Bwyd Trimsaran Food Centre - our permanent home at the heart of the village, housed in the sustainably refurbished Trimsaran Miners' Welfare Hall. This heritage building has been transformed using sustainable materials throughout: hempcrete walls, lime plaster and breathable natural paint create a healthy, low-carbon internal environment, while solar PV panels generate renewable electricity for our operations. The Centre is more than a production space, it is a place of food innovation, and a living expression of our values. Blending, packing and product development all take place here, keeping our food miles low and our roots firmly in Trimsaran.

Our environment

Sustainability is at the heart of Tetrim Teas; engrained in everything we do. We are proud to ethically craft well-being tea blends using natural, locally sourced ingredients, supporting local businesses, farmers and the wider Welsh economy. Our mission is to work with growers across Wales to develop products with real, evidence-backed health benefits. Our packaging has been conscientiously designed using recycled compostable card, ink and foil to wrap our biodegradable tea bags (Bleach and plastic-free). Tetrim Teas is proud to be Good Market approved, working together to build an economy that is good for people and planet.

We aim to go above and beyond for the Tetrim Teas team, creating a positive, sustainable working community within our business. We value every member of our team and encourage contribution to decision-making and the chance to develop areas of personal interest. Our Research & Innovation

Science and evidence sit at the core of what we do, and we are proud to be contributing to a growing body of research into functional food and drink. Our Rhubarb Root Cleansing Evening Tea has been clinically trialed in partnership with Aberystwyth University, with results showing measurable significant LDL cholesterol reduction. Our Lion's Mane mushroom blends - Great Taste Award winner in 2024 - are developed in collaboration with Madarch Cymru, and we are currently working together on the VaSMS project, exploring value-added sustainable mushroom supply chains. Through FANBI (Functional Ageing Nutrition Beverage Innovation), led via Ymchwil Tetrim Research (YTR), we are developing high-protein, nutritionally enhanced blends to address malnutrition in older adults: a genuine and growing public health challenge. We are also leading on NutriBREAD, an InnovateUK-funded project with Aberystwyth University and Shipton Mill, using LED-exposed Welsh mushrooms to develop vitamin D-enriched bread - tackling deficiency through everyday foods, using sustainable Welsh ingredients.

Our Future

Having pioneered community mushroom growing across Wales, we have consolidated our growing operations to focus on the Trimsaran unit, which continues as our research and development base. Our energy is now firmly directed toward innovation - working with trusted partners to develop functional food and drink products that genuinely improve health outcomes, are rooted in Welsh ingredients and supply chains, and are backed by rigorous science. We remain committed to our not-for-profit principles, to the well-being of the communities we serve, and to building a sustainable food system for Wales.
